“I wish for enough moments or pure, authentic joy. For enough adventures to keep me wild, and enough dreams to make me hopeful. Enough tears to keep me grounded, and enough fear to help me grow. I wish for enough friends I can call family, and, above all, enough love to make it all worth it.”

Caty Lamadrid Photography

Hi!

My name is Caty, and I am a Chicago-based family and children photographer.

My passion for photography started more than 20 years ago when I picked up my first professional camera. For years I used it to document experiences I had and the places I discovered through my travels.

In 2019, I welcomed my daughter and everything changed for me. As a mom, I quickly learned how fleeting time can be and found myself turning my camera towards her in an attempt to “freeze” it.  In 2022, a baby boy joined our family and now I feel I understand more than ever how magical those early childhood years are. This is why I specialize in babies and little kids.

While I know that big milestones are important, what matters most to me are the little moments – all the in-betweens. The silly smiles, playful dances, family cuddles, bedtime stories, and just the joy of discovering the world.

As a photographer, my goal is to capture the authentic connections and emotions that surface when we are with our most loved ones. Whether at your home or a specific location in the city, I would love to work with you to design the perfect session for your family. Let me know how I can help.

Thank you for visiting! You can see more of my photography journey and ongoing projects in my portfolio galleries.

FUN FACTS

I was born and raised in Mexica and have a big, loud latin family – they are everything to me.

I have been living in the U.S. for 18 years (almost half my life at this point) and I married a through-and-through Midwesterner.

I feel happiest outside, in nature, and I am an avid hiker. My idea of the perfect vacation involves trekking for days in the mountains.

I have worked in the sustainability, clean energy, and climate change space as a strategy consultant for 17 years.

I have traveled to over 62 countries and have lived in Mexico, Canada, Australia, and the US.

You can often find me in the kitchen, trying new recipes. Or maybe reading a book

I love jigsaw puzzles! Biggest I’ve completed was 24,000 pieces. It took me two years.

In addition to my children, I am mom of two darling cats.
