Recently, I had the privilege of photographing a brand‑new little life—and the brand‑new mom just happened to be a dear friend of mine. What made this session even more meaningful was that I had photographed her maternity portraits months earlier.

For this studio maternity session, we wanted simplicity in the image to showcase her pregnancy in all its splendor. Simple outfits, simple backgrounds. Just her, and different setups with my lighting equipment – and of course we had to sneak in some images with her husband and beautiful kids. 

I get approached by many pregnant women who want to get maternity photos, but when they scroll through Instagram or the internet for inspiration or to find a photographer, they keep seeing these images of done up women with long curly hair, flowy maternity dresses, and endless green fields – do you know what kind I am talking about?
